My dad was Marion L Smith born in Grimes, Al., in 1923, he married my mother, 
Avis Christine Bruner, Jan 18, 1956 in Houston co. Al.  I have 4 brothers and 
1 sister, all still living in Houston co. Al.  My dad died April 12, 1982. 
Marions father was William J. Smith(Bill) mother was Ila Melissa Powell. Bill 
and Ila lived and farmed in Grimes Al, until Bill died Feb 27, 1943.  Ila 
married a Leon Payne, but divorced abt 1953.  Williams parents are listed on 
his death cert as Mary Ward and Aron Smith.  I'm not sure if Aron was actually 
his father because why what I've been told Mary never married and I found them 
in 1880 Wrights, Henry Co. Al. Mary was listed as Aron's stepdaughter, he was 
married to a Ellener, Bill and Zack(Bills brother) were listed as Aron's 
grandchildren.  Zack Smith married Zennie Hicks and lived around Brandon Stand 
Al.  I was told that Zennies father had alot of land, but did not like Zack 
and did not want him to have Zennies part. But, I have no proof of this.  
Zennies father was Meride and Sarah Hicks.  Zack died Nov 1957 and Zennie died 
Nov 1967.  They apparently divorced or separated because Zack's death cert 
stated that he was a widow and his obit did not mention a wife.  His daughter 
Maudie is one listed as giving the information, so I would think she knew her 
parents living situation. I've not had any luck finding any more information 
on the Smith family.  Bill and Ila did have 5 sons, one died when he was about 
a year old and all lived in the Houston co Al area.  Ila died April 12 1981 in 
Dothan, Al. she was born in 1895, her father was Frank Powell and Fannie 
Gilley. Siblins were Lonnie, Alice, Lucille, and Bud Powell. 
My grandparents Bill and Ila are buried at Old Wiggins church in Grimes Al.  
MY dad is buried at Crestland Cemtary in Avon, Al.  I recently found that I 
knew my grandfathers half sister Bessie Smith or Ward, not sure what maiden 
name she went by, she married Cook Johnson, they had a resturant in Dothan, 
Al, and I was told the name of it was Cooks Resturant.  My mom told me Aunt 
Bessie bought my first Easter outfit.  I never knew who she was, everyone 
called her Aunt Bessie, so I never ask how she was related.  I'm glad that I 
knew her, but it saddens me I never knew when she was alive how we were 
related.  She was a very sweet lady and I always enjoyed visiting her.

My moms parents were Otis Thomas Bruner and Sally Ealon Conrad.  Otis was born 
1902 in Jackson co, Fl.  Sally was born 1909 in Jackson co. Fl. They had nine 
children and moved from Fl. when my mom was about 6 mths old to Gordon, 
Ashford area.  Otis dad was Amos Bruner, married Clara Ann Jones. Brothers 
were Addis David, Virgil, Ben Bruner.  Clara died in 1926 and is buried at 
Friendship church in Jackson co Fl.  Amos remarried shortly after to Clodine 
Bodiford Sanders, they had three children: Mary, Beauch and Joe. Clodine was 
previously married to George Sanders.  Her maiden name was Bodiford.
Amos Fathers name was Carswell Bruner, married Mary Ann Thompson.  Mary Ann 
died in child birth and Carswell remarried Haxie F Burrow.
Carswell father was Archibald Bruner who married Amsey C. Moore, in Wilkinson 
Co. Georgia.  Archibalds fathers name was William M Bruner and mothers name 
was Elizabeth Nixon.  Father of William M Bruner was William Bruner who was 
married to Elizabeth C Flick.  William family  came over from Germany,I 
believe he was born in Delaware, settled in NC, 
later moved to Georgia.
